Celebrating Jesus Generation!

Yep! that's the title of the concert held in our church at GMA, Cavite last night. There were quite a number of young people who performed, coming from different groups. Our group (V.O.X.) was one of the invited bands to perform in the said concert.

Honestly, we didn't have enough time to prepare for the said concert since we were also busy preparing for our church anniversary. And to add to the dilemma, James (our band leader) got chicken pox 4 days before the event! Which meant that it would be impossible for him to play and lead the band during the concert. huhuh...

But God proved to be faithful, as He will not let anything hinder us from doing the work He has set us to do. He provided another keyboardist for us and we're so blessed because it seemed so easy for him to learn the songs in our line-up. cool!

Once again, I felt really glad to see a lot of young people coming to declare that their generation is for Jesus as they worship the Lord through songs and dances. My sorethroat just got worse, though, and so I told them that I wouldn't be singing. Instead I'll be in-charge of the multi-media. But even if I was just doing the powerpoint for the songs, I can't help but sing and groove with my fellow music ministers as they lead the crowd in worship.

It was almost midnight when the concert ended. Dan and the other youth of WIN-GMA approached us as we bid them goodbye and expressed their sincerest thanks for supporting their concert. "Ang galing nyo grabe! You rock the crowd!", was their resounding comment as we go. We gave our sincerest thanks as well, but with all the accollades and praises we received that night, we know that none of us is worthy of that. We were there to do what God has called us to do. We did our best because He deserves only the best. In the end, all praises and glory still belongs to God....and we give it back just to HIM alone!

I apologize for the pics quality. Our digicam is kinda lowtech... hehehe... Anyway, here they are. (",)

Eyes on You

I've been wanting to do this for so long, but I guess I just didn't trust myself that I can do it. But when the inspiration and the encouragement came, it all just happen so naturally. Yes, I've been wanting to compose a song for the longest time now, and I have made up a lot of reasons to myself so as not to do it. But when it is God Who placed that desire in our heart, I know we couldn't just escape it.

I remembered my prayer that Monday evening as I was about to finish my quiet time, yes I prayed that God would use me to write a song for Him. I didn't expect that my prayer that night would promptly receive an answer the following morning. I just found myself humming a tune and right after that, the words just followed. I myself couldn't believe it. The words just flowed even as I was standing in the shuttle station patiently waiting for my turn to ride. Good thing, I always have a pen and paper with me and so I was doing my best to write legibly even as I was riding the shuttle. I just didn't want to forget the words that were quickly coming in my mind. By the end of the day, I was able to finalize the words of the song together with its melody. whew!

Again, this is one of the best blessings I've received this year! I really thank the Lord with all my heart for granting my prayer. I also want to thank my fellow music ministers, Bob and James, first, for encouraging me to use this gift that God has given me in writing, and second, for helping me out in placing the melody for this song. I don't know much about the musical technicalities but they are so willing to share their knowledge in making this song completely at its best. Thanks so much brothers!

Yes, my sweet and awesome God is my only Inspiration in writing this song...In fact, He is my song. :)

I'm giving back to God all the glory as I share with you the words in my heart written in a song - the first song I've ever written. (",)

Eyes on You
Composed by: Dorothy Villano
Arranged by: Bob Barredo & James Casten

I

I cannot comprehend
What is it in me
That made You love me this way
Even when I have strayed
Your love leads me back
As I turn my gaze on You

Chorus:

Oh where would I be
Without Your grace and mercy
Without Your promises
That stand true ‘til the end

‘Cause it’s Your love
That breathes life in me
Lord, You lift me up
The moment I set my eyes on You

II

I wake up to each day
With Your faithfulness
That brings me hope on my way
Though dark clouds start to fall
Your love sees me through
As I lift my eyes to You

*Chorus*

Bridge:

Yes, I will trust in You
Though the road I can’t see
Cause all I have to do
Is look at You
At You…

*Chorus*

…Yes, all I have to do
Is to set my eyes on You…
